Position : Consultant - Global Malaria Programme (GMP), Purpose of consultancy
To contribute to implementing the Global Malaria Programme’s malaria dissemination strategy.
Background
The strategy, developed in early 2022, aims to improve the way that WHO malaria guidance is packaged and shared, with a view to optimizing its uptake and use at the country level. The work includes producing, in collaboration with GMP technical teams, animated videos that describe new or updated WHO malaria recommendations in a clear, accessible and visually engaging way; developing complementary information packages around the release of new WHO recommendations; coordinating technical webinars and/or other fora aimed at sharing new or updated malaria guidance; supporting 2 technical consultations focused on malaria guidance dissemination; expanding and maintaining mailing lists with technical stakeholders; developing and implementing a strategy to expand awareness of WHO malaria guidance through social media networks.
Deliverables:
- Deliverable 1: Produce at least 5 animated videos around new or updated WHO malaria guidance. Liaise with external video provider and GMP technical experts.
Expected completion by December 2023.
- Deliverable 2: Develop complementary information materials that provide additional background and context on the recommendations featured in the videos, including at least 5 infographics.
Expected completion by December 2023.
- Deliverable 3: Organize at least 5 technical webinars around new or updated WHO malaria guidance, in collaboration with GMP technical experts.
Expected completion by December 2023.
- Deliverable 4: Facilitate 2 technical consultations organized by GMP focused on malaria guidance dissemination; includes drafting meeting reports that capture the main discussions and recommended actions.
Expected completion by October 2023.
- Deliverable 5: Expand and maintain mailing lists with technical stakeholders, in collaboration with GMP technical experts and regional malaria advisers.
Expected completion by December 2023.
- Deliverable 6: Develop and implement a strategy to expand awareness of WHO’s technical guidance on malaria through social media networks.
Expected completion by December 2023.
Required profile for job ad : Consultant - Global Malaria Programme (GMP), Educational Qualifications:
Essential:
- Advanced university degree in knowledge or information management, education, international development, development studies or a related field.
Experience
Essential:
- Over 5 years of experience working in information or knowledge management.
- Experience in video production.
Desirable:
- Experience working in the field of international development or public health.
Skills
- Strong command of web-based tools, technologies and practices.
- Ability to identify and synthesize complex technical information into language that is accessible for a variety of stakeholders.
- Active user of social media platforms.
- Competence in the use of standard Microsoft applications and excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Languages required:
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of English.
Desirable:
- Intermediate knowledge of French and/or Spanish.
Location
Off-site: Home based.
- The consultant should be able to participate in virtual meetings during CET working hours if required.

Remuneration:
- Band level B-USD 7,000 – 9,980 per month.
