Job Ad & Profile Description

Position : ERP Transition Finance Accountant

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

The incumbent will report to the Head of International Finance and work closely with the Consolidation Accountant; the Finance Systems Manager; the Finance Systems Analyst and the ERP Finance Training Accountant.
He/She will work closely with the GH Financial Accounting and consolidation team to ensure that Plan can meet the period end reporting requirements during the use of 2 ERPs. The transition from the legacy system for 50 countries to the new will be staggered during 2021, which will require strict co-ordination. The incumbent will need to be able to address specific issues whilst keeping the group consolidated requirements in mind.
The incumbent will interact with Plan International’s senior management, validating and documenting any changes necessary for updating the operating manuals.
He/She will also work with the new ERP Learning & Development Manager and other functional training leads to develop virtual and digital learning content and to ensure that training content for Finance aligns to the revised operations manual.

Duties And Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with international finance team in understanding group accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that operations manual is updated and reflects the current processes.
  • Attain deep understanding of existing processes and provide technical expertise as necessary during implementation.
  • Support Consolidation accountant in meeting periodic consolidation reporting by reviewing the data under two systems (new and old ERP).
  • Support international finance team with quarterly reporting requirements under two systems.
  • Support team YODA in defining group accounting and reporting requirements and ensure that training material reflects the requirements of group reporting.
  • Partner with YODA team and Country offices providing oversight of group reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity during migration phase by data analysis and maintain relevant reports for audit trail.
  • Have an eye for process improvements and define requirements to YODA team.

Reporting procedures from 2 ERPs

  • The consolidated view will initially be reported from SAP – BPC
  1. Data to be exported from both SAP and Dynamics
  2. Consolidation and elimination entries are entered in BPC
  • The final consolidation process may move to Dynamics:
  1. Imports from countries in the tail end of the rollout.
  2. Imports from National Organisations.
  3. Consolidation and elimination entries are entered in Dynamics
  4. Final reports may be run from the Data Warehouse

Management of operations manual revision

  • • Workshop each finance chapter of the operations manual, establishing its validity and executing any changes required.
  • • Identify the appropriate content to include in the end-to-end processes overview, as well as training modules for the deployment of the new ERP system.
  • • Ensure any changes in processes, principles or procedures are communicated and are reflected in training materials

Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion

  • • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy, including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Required profile for job ad : ERP Transition Finance Accountant

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential knowledge and skills

  • ACA or equivalent professional qualification with significant post qualification experience.
  • Educated to first degree standard
  • Knowledge of Finance processes and controls, IFRS and USGAAP
  • Prior experience using SAP and Microsoft Dynamics for accounting
  • Prior experience using consolidation systems for complex multi-national organisations
  • Experience of developing and updating finance operating manuals
  • Experience of partnering with other departments or teams to create consistent/quality documentation/training materials
  • An excellent command of the English language
  • Experience of developing and delivering training for Finance (functional and/or systems training)
  • A strong communicator, both in written and spoken communications
  • Ability to deliver change in line with business
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Application of diversity and inclusion principles within training
  • Excellent level of competency in MS Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Desirable Knowledge and skills

  • Experience of working in a Not for Profit and Third Sector organisation
  • Proficiency in French and Spanish
