Position : Global Financial Analyst

Global Financial Analyst.

Job Summary

This role will lead the financial analysis for Plan International’s (PII) corporate management reports and budgets to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the financial position and business implications to provide insight and advice and thereby enable evidence-based decisions to be made. Responsible for ensuring resources are allocated and reprioritised to maximise impact and value for money in achieving the Global priorities.

Duties And Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead assessment and understanding of PII’s financial performance through timely, high quality evidence based, insightful analysis underpinned by strong business understanding and appreciation of political context
  • Provide strategic advice to senior managers based on that analysis to ensure financial resources are allocated or reprioritised for maximum impact and to ensure not overspent in order to support the successful delivery of Plan International’s mission and strategy.
  • Lead work in collaborative partnership with Strategic Finance Business Partners (GH and National Office), Project Finance Financial Accounts team, Regional Finance Managers and other business colleagues to obtain detailed financial analysis for all components of Plan and ensure it is an integrated coherent whole that can be incorporated as high quality, insightful commentary and advice in management reports and budget papers
  • Ensure comprehensive analysis of actuals vs budget, forecasts, trends (in year and year on year), KPIS and benchmarks to identify risks and opportunities and advice on response – for both in year and future years in budgeting. Ensure any funding model analysis developed and implemented as appropriate
  • Lead communication of the understanding of the Plan financial position across Plan to ensure colleagues and stakeholders have an appreciation of the financial position and make decisions to reflect commercial implications and value for money thereby transforming the organisational approach to financial sustainability
  • Maximise the implementation of ERP and M&E Systems and related BI tools to ensure simpler, speedier more insightful analysis (for both actual and budget purposes) is provided in a more engaging way, thereby reducing the need for GH Finance to remediated for shortcomings in systems, skills and capability
  • Act as a key technical expert in PII on financial analysis (and related BI tools), building one stop shop/first point of call online tool to support capacity building in financial analysis across PII. Develop and implement training courses as needed.

  • Joint responsibility with Data reporting manager for producing management reports and budgets on time and to high quality, constantly reviewing to improve as needed to support business needs

  • Lead horizon scanning and relations with financial networks (profession and sector) to identify emerging trends in financial analysis and planning to ensure Plan is at the leading edge in its approach to financial analysis and planning
  • Champion change by role modelling the behaviour expected from all colleagues, develop and communicate plans to ensure change is successfully implemented within own department.
Required profile for job ad : Global Financial Analyst
  • Educated to degree or diploma
  • Excellent accounting systems skills to maximise BI tools
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Qualified (or in final stages of obtaining professional qualification) Chartered Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW)
  • Experience of collaborative working across functions
  • Experience of training advantageous
  • Additional languages advantageous

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
The role does not have direct reports but will be required to lead by influencing many key partners to ensure comprehensive timely analysis is produced. It will engage globally across all parts of Plan’s global finance community and wider business.
